The familiar 3 x 3 reimagined into five precision-machined challenges designed to make clever people reconsider their confidence. Each is engraved with a singular challenge—no colors to match, no familiar solutions, and no shortcuts hiding on Google. Choose your adversary.

Five Singular Challenges for the Incurably Curious. Meet the collection.

A literary reference and a crash course in Epigraphy. You will spend the first several hours figuring out what’s on it; then the next hundred cursing us. Our hardest puzzle in the collection, the one that started it all. No hints. We are not sorry.

The highest triple word score ever played was worth 392 points. We think this can be solved in about as many hours. If you’ve ever solved the Wordle on the second guess, or do the weekend crossword in ink, this is the puzzle for you.

The periodic table has 118 elements. Dmitiri Mendeleev left gaps for elements not yet discovered when he first organized it because he trusted logic over the limits of his knowledge. You will have to do the same.

An homage to the great man himself. Every line engraved from a meticulous recreation of the original patent artwork. The design that still works elegantly half a century later. A classic yet confounding picture cube.

Every day has a solution. A complete calendar twisted inside a puzzle. Display today’s date or commemorate the one that changed your life.

Every Kewb comes with a Stand and Bag. The stand's brass plaque records the puzzle's name, serial number and forge date. The full grain leather bag boasts a custom Kewbs cord lock.

KEWBS does not ask how quickly you can repeat what you already know. Its engraved faces contain five original challenges that reward observation, reasoning and persistence. Familiar algorithms may move the pieces, but they cannot tell you where those pieces belong. There are no stickers to follow, no corners to cut and no solution waiting one search away. A Kewb may occupy you for hours—or quietly outwit you for months.

Every KEWB begins as solid brass bar stock. Its corners, edges and centers are individually machined through multiple precision operations—never cast, molded or plated. Inside, a custom chromoly-steel core, thrust bearings, wave spring, shoulder bolt and carefully selected shims create movement worthy of the object surrounding them. Every component is fitted, inspected and finished by hand before the assembled puzzle receives its soft, vapor-blasted surface. Some details are never meant to be seen, but every one can be felt.

KEWBS is the work of Phil and Tory—two people with very different expertise and the same inability to leave well enough alone. Phil turns impossible ideas into precision-machined mechanisms; Tory designs the challenges, objects and experience built around them. In their workshop in the mountains of Western North Carolina, every idea travels repeatedly between sketchbook, machine and workbench. After eight years of thought and three years of prototyping, KEWBS remains deliberately small-scale, deeply personal and engineered without compromise.
